Workshops

Workshops are the best way to learn photography without going through those costly learning curves. I spent years doing the wrong things without any help except from old magazines, books, travel guides, some friends and recently, websites. No one was there to coach me or guide me through those confusing times. So, I ended up spending more time, more money and more energy learning what I know now. It was fun though, I did not regret it. But if with a Coach, the learning curve would have been shorter, clearer and better!

Does any of the above relate to you?

Let me give you an idea of what happens during my workshops. Please watch the video below. Feel free to like them in Youtube.

Here are some testimonies from photographers who have attended my workshops.

” It was simply Wow!! That is only I can say about Jose’s workshop. It was my very first time to shoot a professional model, so I was a little nervous. But once the shooting was started, now I felt okay. Jose kept encouraging to shoot and talk to model etc. At end of the day, I think I’ve taken well over 600 photos!!! Some of the photos were came up really great. I thought “Did I take that?” Anyway, with masterful makeup artist (Eddie) Jose hired and a lovely model (Raissa). I couldn’t ask for more. I thoroughly enjoyed his workshop and I intended to attend another one next month!!! It is recommended for any level of photographer, Jose will make sure that he will improve your skill.”

“I attended a recent “studio lighting” portrait workshop with Jose in Bangkok. We started the day with coffee and a conversation, I was immediately relaxed as Jose was interested in what my expectations were and what style of photography I was pursuing. I found the instructions easy to understand and very much hands on as I was quite intimidated by flash photography and shooting in manual mode. I walked away many hours later with the complete understanding of the theory of photography, lighting, and composition. And the post editing tutorial gave me such a sense of confidence that I knew I was a much better photographer from that day forward. The workshop exceeded my expectations as I learned more in the one day workshop than I had in my two years of photography. The workshops are highly recommended if you plan to become a professional photographer as i have.”

“Jose’s photos offer something different to the eyes, and when asked for a day’s workshop’s price, he came back to me with a very reasonable quote, and so I went ahead and booked. And I came away learning so much!”
— Zrs Gamboa (Bangkok)

“I’m trying to work on my photos on my own now. But I must say that with your tips I look at photography in a different way now and slowly start to see a difference in quality of my pics.”
— Lukasz Saczek (Poland/Nepal)

“I and my husband Michael (a.k.a. JIGS), started taking photos as a mere hobby and loving it. But amateurs that we are, we’re kind of lost sometimes. At least, we know though that having a camera and gadgets and or mind filled with creative energy is not a guarantee at all for both us to be called Photographers. Then we decided to do a PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP with Jose Tan, a classmate and friend way back in my nursing school, whose passion in photography amazed us. Things have changed after that, and we kept on saying that it was indeed one great experience and the best decision we have made! It was overwhelming at first, but Jose was a wonderful and effective mentor. You can see his joy, perseverance and faith in what he does. His friendliness and willingness in sharing his expertise and vision is respectable and selfless. He makes sure you are at ease having him around and that you’re comfortable sharing your own views/perspective. He has his artistic ways around his models for a successful photoshoot. But most importantly, he always points it out that planning is key – all the more, that your readiness for the event and careful composition are very important. These in short, had made this experience worth all the effort. It was fun-filled and yet informative. We have learned a lot, and we are more confident to explore the field of Photography day by day, and by that, we are so grateful to you, Jose Tan. We are hopeful that there will be another WORKSHOP…SOON! “
